🇲🇽 Elke Von son de Fernex



Full Professor at the College of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics (FMVZ-UNAM, México) and Researcher with seven years of experience in dairy cattle production and parasitology.

Member of the National System of Researchers in Mexico (SNII) with 19 peer-reviewed scientific publications; speaker and keynote speaker at over 38 national and international scientific conferences, symposiums and/or workshops. Supervised over 14 undergraduate and graduate students.

She obtained her college degree in Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics from the FMVZ-UNAM (Mexico); Doctoral degree in Animal Production and Health Sciences (Pass with Honors and awarded with Alfonso Caso Medal of Merit, 2019 UNAM); and performed a 10-month research stay at the Institute for Parasitology and Tropical Veterinary Medicine, Department of Veterinary Medicine, Free University (FU) of Berlin (Germany)

Line of research:

  • Use plants and their bioactive compounds for parasitic control in small ruminants, cattle, and fish production. 
  • Phytochemicals as source for the development of novel therapeutic leads for parasite control in livestock production.
  • Biological control of cattle parasites.
