Graduated as Doctor in Veterinary Medicine and Technology at Facultad de Veterinaria - UDeLaR, Universidad de la República, Uruguay, with a Master in Animal Production and a PhD in Biological Sciences (UDELAR-PEDECIBA) at Facultad de Ciencias - UDeLaR, Universidad de la República, Uruguay.

Is Co-Founder and Director of a non-profit organization (Fundación IRAUy) developed outside the state sphere whose objective is research and technological development in the agricultural area with focus on animal reproduction.

He has 42 articles published in his career, in the last period (4 years, 2014-2017). In recent years he received the 2017 NATIONAL VETERINARY ACADEMY AWARD 2017 (National) Award granted by the National Veterinary Academy and sponsored by the Ministry of Education and Culture for his research and generation of knock-out lambs using CRISPR technology published in PLoS One: Efficient Generation of Myostatin Knock-Out Sheep Using CRISPR/Cas9 Technology and Microinjection into Zygotes, as well as 2011 received the award Dr. ROBERTO CALDEYRO BARCIA Award in Biology (2011) (National) PEDECIBA (Basic Sciences Development Program).
